Our Story
Hello, I'm Sohum Kapoor, the founder of Say The Word. When I was 13 years old, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Witnessing my family's strength as we navigated this challenging time, and acknowledging the resources and support we lacked during our experience, inspired the creation of Say The Word.
Over the years, I've been involved in various initiatives, from writing a winning Alice Munro short story about my experience, to working with other non-profits like Kindling Breast Cancer Society. Through these experiences, I realized the profound impact that community support and creative outlets can have on those battling cancer and their loved ones.
As my mother regained her confidence and shared her story as a survivor, we transitioned from using "C word" to openly saying "cancer." Now that we have began saying the word, you can too.
